“where are you really from?”
A question most people of colour in the UK will be familiar with.
Growing up Asian in the UK, you have a mix of identities and cultures, which makes it hard to know where you fit in. Through this common experience, I wanted to create a space for people to feel a part of their own community, a diverse one where mixed heritage is embraced and encouraged.
This project began with the idea to include stories from others who have mixed identities, initially to be presented solely in print.
However, this shortly progressed into a digital series, meaning if people didn’t have the physical zines, they were still able to access the videos.
The zines cover everyone's individual stories from all those involved.
This is a project I am really proud of. ⋆｡°✩
